MySpace is pretty dumb...

...but every now and then one of those "bulletins" comes along that's kinda interesting. My myspace page is mostly just a central point where I can keep in touch with friends & family I don't see that often. (www.myspace.com/newsteve)

But, anyways, I thought I'd repost this bulletin my cousin Meems sent my way.

It'll be riding weather in a few months...

... and my motorcycle needs to be registered by then. I have an orange Honda 2003 VTX 1300 Retro.
IMG_0912

However, before I register it I want to get a new license plate for the bike. For custom plates the rules are as follows:
  • You can have from one to six characters on a custom plate.
  • In addition to the six characters, you are allowed one extra space or hyphen (indicate in the application where the hyphen or space should go).
  • You can fill each character block with a letter, number, or hyphen, or you may leave some blank.
  • With the exception of the hyphen, NO special characters or punctuation marks are allowed, such as # . ’ ! $ & " ?
  • You may not use three numbers followed by three letters or three letters followed by three numbers.
  • Be sure to write clearly, distinguishing Z’s from 2’s, S’s from 5’s, I’s from 1’s.
  • Be sure to show where you want any spacing, especially if you do not want lettering to cover the tree portion of your plate. Otherwise, all characters will be centered on the plate.

Originally I was thinking something along these lines:

License Plate "English" Translation
STV DWG Steve Dawg
BIG DWG Big Dawg
STV DOG Steve Dog
WYD LOD Wide Load
DTH RID Death Ride (In highschool my friends called a "ride" with me a "death ride"... I wasn't the best of drivers back then.
ORNG X Orange VTX
MOV OVR Move Over
BAK OFF Back Off

However... for those of you who have been involved in my life the last year or so probably know some changes have been taking place in my life. My priorities have been changing... God has taken hold of me and unlike what House said in last nights show, I am changing. So I was thinking maybe some of these ideas would be better (see below). I was also hoping to get some feedback from the large collection of readers on this blog (and by large, I mean the 3-4 of you). At the bottom of this (and every other) post you'll see a spot to leave a comment. If you have a suggestion for a license plate, like one of my new or old ideas, or just want to tell me I'm wasting my money then feel free to let me know.

2008 Starts off great!

The year 2008 has started off great. I haven't been too diligent keeping this blog up-to-date with the going-ons in my life so I figured I'd summarize the 2008 events so far.

Steve & Melinda Join the YMCA
First... Melinda and I purchased a membership at the local YMCA. We have been going on average about 3-4 days a week. Our goal is 5 days a week in the morning for aerobic. Additionally, my personal goal is to also add 4 days a week lifting weights in the evening. I am finding that starting a new exercise routine of such magnitude is proving to be a challenge for me. I've started a new blog, which I have previously mentioned, to help me keep track of my progress.

Alice, my niece, turned 1 year old. She's a joyous bundle of walking talking fun.

New addition to Jenks family
The Jenks had a new addition to their family. I can't wait to meet little Eli. Knowing his parents Eli is in for a spectacular life dedicated to God.

Sis recaptures childhood with sleepover, brother crashes the party
Melinda turned 27, bringing the month of January to a close. Mom tried to surprise her by inviting a bunch of Melinda's friends from church to a sleep over at the house. However, Melinda began to wonder if something was up when Mom went on a cleaning spree on the day of her birthday. In all, there were 7 girls crashed out in the living room for the night. All went well except for the appearance of the dreaded cave monster from downstairs who insisted on crashing the party on several occasions.

Commissioned to create/update website for the church
I've also been asked if I would like to help with the website for the church. I've decided it would be an excellent opportunity to refresh my web development skills and to learn ASP.NET. So, I'll be working on this for the next few months. I hope to have a rough prototype up and running in 3 months. This all started when Melinda asked if I would help the women at church by creating a section on the site for them to communicate on. I 'm thinking a forum would be a good solution and will be incorporating into the new site a private forum for the women of the church, and possibly forums for the rest of the church.

Today's Mantra

Today I created a mantra during a prayer and I thought I'd share it with the world.

Accept God's love and give Him worship
Accept God's strength and give Him glory
Accept God's wisdom and give Him joy

Love God
Worship God
Glorify God
