Becoming an Expert on Women, Traveling Girlfriends, Christmas Lights

I was recently given a book that promised to help us guys better understand women and why they do and say the things that they do. The book, "for men only, a straightforward guide to the inner lives of women," is a fairly small book and a very quick read. I managed to read through it in about 2 days time.  There were a lot of good things in the book that really helped me figure out and understand women in general..... and Annie specifically. I think I've got her all figured out now.

Speaking of Annie...

She headed off to Dallas, TX for last weekend for a total of 5 days. She left Thursday and got back Sunday night. Her traveling companion was Barbara, the owner of TCBY. The two of them attended a Franchisee meeting for the TCBY stores. There were a lot of shopping, meetings, dinners, and other events during which they were able to get to know other store owners, vendors, and corporate people during the 5 days of the conference. Overall they made some great contacts, and found out a lot of information regarding their store, and the health of TCBY as a whole.

But I was sure glad to have her back home! When I picked her up from the airport I decided to take her out to a surprise location. She's a good guesser though, and figured out we were going to The Grotto just as we rounded the corner. The Festival of Lights, at The Grotto, is a great place to go hear some wonderful music and see some beautiful lights.

Continuing a wonderful holiday tradition begun as a gift to our community in 1988, The Grotto's Christmas Festival of Lights welcomes all who seek the true spirit and meaning of Christmas. Through the presentation of spectacular lights, hourly music concerts, outdoor caroling, and other family entertainment, The Grotto's festival surrounds visitors with the traditional sights and sounds of this wondrous holiday season. Few holiday celebrations can hope to compare with the grandeur offered by The Grotto's pristine sanctuary garden setting with magnificent architecture, towering firs, and an angel-covered Cliffside as a backdrop. This community tradition reminds us all that Christmas is a season of joy, sharing, compassion, and peace.

If you're looking for something to do, I definitely recommend checking out The Grotto. Admission is $7.50 per person ($3.00 for children 3-12, 2 and under free).

This week is going to be a busy one for sure. I've got two Christmas parties and an Ice Skating get together at Lloyd Center Ice Rink on Saturday. On top of that I'm still looking for work, trying to sell the Mustang & Boat, studying ASP.NET 3.5, and working on some other projects.

I've also been studying Job Hunting practices. I have been reading What Color Is Your Parachute? which is a book about finding the perfect job. I've also been recommended "48 Days to the Work You Love," by Dan Miller.  I have ordered this book from his website: http://www.48days.com/index.php

Perhaps I'll be able to find the perfect job... a job which I can use as a ministry tool, a job which will enable me to spend large amounts of time with my family, a job which the Lord will bless and use for his glory.

Or.. Perhaps I'll just find a job for now.. and start on the path to that ultimate job.

Shameless Plug:
If you, or anyone you know is seeking help with their computer... then I'm your geek.

Also, if you know anyone in the Computer Science industry (Systems Administration, .NET Programming, ASP.NET developer, Web Programming, Application Development, etc) who would like to meet with me for lunch and discuss their job, business, job leads, etc, then please let me know or give them my contact information and have them get in touch with me.

Over and over again I am finding that the best way to find a job is through networking. This means that YOU are my best hope at finding work. Someone you know, someone you've heard of, someone your friends know is searching for the perfect match for an open position they have... and I am that perfect match.

Your prayers and advice is a great help, and continues to be a great blessing.

For anyone that's wondering, I did read "For Women Only." Although, I would never be so presumptuous as to say I have Steve "all figured out" :-D I do feel like I have the cliff notes, tho! (btw, LOL at your comment, Mrs. M! :-D)
