I was working on the Japan DVD - Day 2 when I found this video. Apparently I'm getting forgetful in my old age... since this is a video I took I should have remembered having it. Oh well. Here it is for your viewing pleasure. Expect this video to make a debut in the final cut of the Japan Movie.
BTW - If anyone has a catchy title for our "Disciples 12 Vacation Video" then by all means.. lets hear them.
In fact - I'll make a poll if I get enough and we can vote on them.
The winner will get a special prize to be determined later but will probably be worth nothing and consist of simply having your name in the credits - but that'll be determined later - not here on the spot. ;)
As many of you know I like motorcycles.. just a little bit. Well, here's a video I've put together with some pictures and video that some passengers of mine took during Family Camp.
Note: If you click on the video after it starts playing you will be taken to the YouTube site where the video is hosted. Once at the site, under the video to the right you will see a link which says: watch in high quality. The video is much better when viewed in high quality.
Here's all the pictures from Thursday at Family Camp.
Sunday after service at Trinity there was a surprise farewell party for Kim. Even though some of the planning was done right in front of her, she remained completely clueless about the party.
Joanna, Mrs. M & Melinda all made lasagna. Melinda also cooked up a batch of Machiko's spaghetti. Others provided beverages, and assorted side dishes. While everyone was eating they were able to watch the first part of the Japan trip's DVD. I had worked on the DVD Saturday and managed to get Day 1 finished up.
After food there was some fellowship for a while. Then the games started. First up... that silly "Lame Horse" cup game. After a few rounds of that it was time to search for some pirate booty!
After big booty we played some weird apple game, and then it was time for the evening service. John Custis spoke on why Christ died for our sins. It was a very good sermon and I enjoyed everything I heard.
After the service there was a Post-Party Party at TCBY for Kim. Kaitlyn and Ellen were closing at TCBY. When we arrived at TCBY we found Annette was there. So the 7 of us had some great conversation... albiet, Kim was a bit quiet. However, Joanna and Kim really seemed to get along great and had some amazing fellowship. Although, I thought Kim was being abnormally quiet... but I just put that down to the fact that she's leaving us soon and was sad.
That's Kim on the left and Jo on the right. If you're wondering what Jo devoured it was this:
Jo's Dessert
Kim really enjoyed her beverage. I'm not sure what she got, but in the picture below you can see her drinking it down.

The next day Kim, Kaitlyn, Melinda and I met for lunch at Claim Jumpers. We had some good conversation, a few funny stories, and some shooting of the nerf gun at the ceiling fan. After lunch Kim had a chance to drive the 'stang. We took it to get gas (with one tiny pit stop you can ask Kim about) and then it was time for her to get home and continue packing.
Later that night it was Ultimate Frisbee. It was a pretty drive with a gorgeous sunset and a couple of rainbows to keep me company for my second trip to P-Town that day. The Ultimate game was short and sweet. With both O-San and Will sitting out the game was pretty mild, and due to the shortening of the days the game was over all to soon. As usual, the next stop was Starbucks. Kim showed up just as everyone was heading to Starbucks.
Before Kim left for Alaska she wanted to get a blog set up. Since I've got a little experience in that department I offered to help her. Setting up a blog at www.blogger.com is a very easy process, especially if you already have a gmail account. In no time at all Kim was up and running.
Welcome the world of blogging Kim. I expect to see pictures of your trip back home and many pictures of Alaska. You can view Kim's blog at http://kimberly-upton.blogspot.com. As the night wore on people began to leave. For many of us this was the last time we'd get to see lovely Kimberly before she left on Thursday.
The goodbyes were heartfelt and tender. Many were reluctant to say "goodbye" and oft was heard the murmurs of "see you later" or "until next time."
There was a fair amount of final snapshots taken to help us remember our fond times with Kim. She's been a joy to know and the loss of her presence will be felt by many. I'm sure more than a few tears were shed tonight. I myself am not normally one to choke up for a teary goodbye (unless others start it, then I'm not responsible for what happens).
The way people were giving long, sincere, emotional and tight hugs I'm sure Kim knew she was going to be missed.
Well, by most everyone at least. I'm not sure what O-San did to deserve this... but I do know that my car was caught in the cross fire!
She hasn't even had that gun one day and she's already taking down mustangs. Any moose, bear or wolf that gives her grief on the drive to Alaska better watch out.
So... you might be wondering why I titled this "Frogs like Starbucks." Well... as I said earlier.. I'm not normally one for a teary goodbye... unless a bullfrog jumps down my throat. As I was driving away and lost sight of Kim's car... it occurred to me that I wont be seeing my new friend for quite some time. Right as I was contemplating that I must have yawned. It has been a long day... so while I must have been yawning that bullfrog that's been hiding from me jumped right into my mouth and crawled down my throat. My only guess is that he needed a ride home after hanging out at Starbucks.
You will be missed Kimberly. I'll hope and pray that you have a safe drive home.
As promised, here are some more pictures of family camp. These are all pictures Ellen took when she found my camera. Hopefully next time she takes a few more than just the measly 252 pictures she took. ;)
Whew... what a crazy summer this has been! Bike Camp, Japan, Family Camp... I almost wish it could end there...
During Family Camp, Dad and I (and a Jo & Kait) rode the bikes out to North Fork Reservoir in order to determine if the lake is sufficient for Skiing and Tubing on. It is. So... if I get the boat fixed soon (hopefully this week) then I'll be taking it out ASAP. I'm not a big skier myself, but I really enjoy pulling skiers/tubers. So if you're interested in comming along when I head up that way, drop me a line and I'll keep you in the loop when the time comes.
When I get a chance I'll update this post with the pictures from last couple days at family camp. So keep checking back.
For now - I've got over 7000 pictures to deal with from the Japan trip. I think there may be a few of you folks out there with pictures from that last day or two of the trip that I don't have. If you can get them on CD and give them to me then I'll include them in the big compilation DVD.
I'll also be working on a slideshow. Thanks go Will for loaning me Sam H.'s CD, so I'll be using some of Sam's music along with music O-San recorded while we were in Japan. When that's finished I'll be distributing DVDs to everyone who wants one.
Day two at family camp has come and gone. Overall it was a good day. God has blessed us all with great company, food, fellowship, and learning. The morning breakfast consisted of Pancakes, Fruit, and Ham.
In the kitchen today was Mathew, Randy, and Me.
In theory Jack was there to help too, but since he wasn't in uniform all he got to do was manage the Zoom. Didn't you know that Family Camp Tuesday Morning Men Crew Uniform was a red shirt? Randy, Matthew and I did.
No one seemed to be running in fear that I was cooking them breakfast... which is just as well since my dad and I will be helping in the mornings all week long.
After breakfast we listened again to Dr. Boyd at 10AM. His series on the Tabernacle is just wonderful. At one point he had a couple of the boys up there to help him demonstrate something.
A view almost as good as the Huggins, only cooler.

In the above pictures you got a chance to see a few brief moments of the volley ball games that were played. There are three camp teams: Yellow, Red, and Blue(my team). In the volley ball tournement - the team game for Tuesday - the Yellow team won. However, the Raging C's (blue team) made them earn it. The Raging-C's only lost at the very end. It is my speculation that it was due to exhaustion... every other team was able to cycle players throughout the games, whereas the Raging C's had no extra players to sub in. Therefore taking the exhaustion into account along with the fact that the Raging C's were undefeated until the final 2 games leads me to believe that were the teams not allowed to switch fresh players the final score may have been different. But this is just one humble mans absolutely non-biased opinion. (Want to buy some beach front property in Utah?)
After the volley ball games my dad and I decided to go get the bikes... rain or not. (It did in fact rain). We searched high and low for anyone who might want to go on a motorcycle ride with us... and we were FINALLY able to convince Ellen and Kaitlyn to go after a LOT of convincing.
As you can see, Kaitlyn wasn't too eager for a bike ride.
That's right Ellen... We had the best bike and you were on the SECOND best.

I feel like I'm in China... minus the language barrier, architectural style, pollution, currency type, freedom to worship God, censorship and communism... but, other than that I feel like I'm in China. I have very limited internet access.. granted it's not censored and the content isn't limited... it's just limited access.
Ok - So, it's probably nothing like China. But, I'm writing this blog, so you can't win this argument.
China it is. ;)
This year Trinity and Hillcrest have moved the family camp to China! (not really!) For my first year in China Family Camp all has gone well, if a bit wet. When the "Disciple 12" arrived home last Saturday, it was apparently at the end of a brutally hot heat wave. I myself sure didn't know why everyone was complaining so much... sure.. it was 100 degrees or more.. but.. It was a dry heat.
On Monday afternoon the clouds rolled in and threatened rain. Dad and I decided to wait and maybe bring the bikes out later if the weather cleared up. We (Dad & I) finally showed up sometime around 5-6pm Monday. There was a general welcoming and happy attitude that seemed to permeate the air. Families were gathering and fellowshipping. Soon it was time for dinner. The "Girls Crew" did a great job and were wonderful servers.
After dinner the girls cleared the tables and the Boys Crew did the dishes.
During the cleanup a little fellowship took place until it was time for Dr. Boyd's lecture. He continued his lecture on the Tabernacle. Overall it was a great lecture and really caused me to think and focus on the word, the tabernacle, and God's purpose.
After the lecture ended everyone hung around for some great fellowship. Melinda and Annalise had found each other and so too had many other friends.
Soon after the lecture desert was served. This evening desert was Chocolate pudding. At 10 PM it was lights out. My sister chose not to stay with her Segoy older brother and instead ditched the family for Miss K. So, upstairs above the kitchen it was just me and my parents.
